How to Care for a Fireplace Screen
First, only clean a fireplace screen when the hearth area and screen have been allowed to completely cool. To clean a metal screen use a simple mixture of a drop or two of mild dish detergent and warm water. Use a soft sponge or cloth to clean. Rinse screen with clean water. Allow screen to dry before use.
Make sure glass doors and entire hearth area are completely cool before cleaning. For a glass fireplace screen I suggest using one part white vinegar with three parts water in a spray bottle. Newspaper works best to clean glass. Spray doors with solution and wipe in circular motion to clean. Gently dry with paper towels or microfiber cloth.
